In this project, the amenities of an apartment in a historical building required to be readapted for the contemporary needs. Situated at the heart of Stockholm, in Vasastan, the house built at the beginning of the past century was not initially designed to have a kitchen as we understand it today. In response, we have converted a kitchenette into a generous kitchen-living room. With a wall torn down, the small secluded kitchen became a generous C-shaped kitchen with a kitchen isle, a part of living room space. The fusion of functions and the dialogue between two spaces is for us a statement of modern living standards. Kitchen is an important social space in a home, where people cook, eat and socialise. This modest but carefully engineered project resulted in a functional complement to a modern family home. Photos: Adel Rakhmatullina
